Aux Armes et Cætera
Inspired by a late 19th to early 20th-century wallpaper originally produced by Desfossé & Karth, this design carries the grandeur of Neo-Empire interiors.
Its medallions, laurel wreaths, and heraldic rhythm evoke the decorative language of the Empire revival: symmetry, ornament, and a certain theatrical elegance designed for grand townhouses and formal salons. The title, Aux Armes et Cætera, nods to Serge Gainsbourg’s reinterpretation of La Marseillaise.
This wallpaper was carefully redrawn and reproduced using traditional hand-printing techniques, staying as close as possible to the original visual language and scale. Each impression is printed by hand using pear wood blocks, preserving the slight variations and tactile depth that industrial printing often loses.
Printed with non-toxic pigmets and paint, every roll carries the subtle irregularities that make hand-printed wallpaper alive.
